Why isn't the smoke going UP in the second one? Its going like sideways when it hits.

Both of them are great.

The first is much more "POW!"-ish. I like it better than the second.

the second one because it has smoke from the target area coming from it.

I say the first one, though if you combined the explosion from the seconds one and the shot from the first one it would look better.
