Remember you could access other people's login histories, and see the login history for an IP too.

Though it was fun to see all the failed attempts of people trying to brute force your passwords XD

Pretty much all of this sums it up. The people who need to know login histories are certain staff groups, so they still have access to it. It's a security risk for regular users when their IPs are just out in the open. But yes I agree, it's funny to see how many failed attempts are made at trying to log into accounts, especially high profile users.

if we were able to at least see our own login history x)

Yup, at the time that it was disabled a lot of people asked for this, but I think it was just too hard or too much of a bother to do it.
