From my experience with a laptop and gaming it isn't really worth it, overheats quickly, crashes, unneeded lag, but that might be because mine isn't worth 1000 USD.

Yeah you would have bought a laptop that was not designed for gaming, therefor of course it wouldn't run games well.

You can get a solid laptop for what he asking but a desktop is much better option. A monitor could be included in the build for the same price as well.
