That was most likely an infraction notice. Infractions are given when you break the rules of any board.
Its not subtracting any points, its adding them. If you get to 5 points at any time, you get an automatic 1 day ban. 10 points is a 5 day ban and the ban increases for each point you get up to 20 points which is a permanent ban.
Infraction expire over time, so the points arent always there but you shpuld still follow the rules. The best way to think of it is like golf. You want the lowest number of infraction points possible.
