1. How do you add scan lines like in here in the background? :

2. Where do you find the Gradient tool in tool box? Can't find it. Mark it witha red brush would you? (just use paint)

Creating scanlines requires a custom brush. A more in depth explanation can be found in the Tutorials section here.

The gradient tool:

Look at the selected tool in the toolbox, that's the paint brush. The gradient tool is 2 boxes left of the paintbrush. It's the one on the left of the pencil.
