Actually, that method usually doesn't work. It'll give you links to threads with the words you searched for in them, not in their name.

You could always try getting someone you know with ToriPrime to search for you (such as me, and I'd be happy to do it), but other than that, there's no method of accurately searching for a thread if you don't have TP.

The search function was removed because it made the system overheat having multiple people using the function at the same time.
It was made restricted to the general public and only people with Toriprime or higher may use it.

suo says: No. It just made the database go slow. Which is far more important, because servers should not overheat because of a single function. The database going slow, however, makes everyone unhappy and can't be fixed by getting a better hosting plan.
