What do you mean by realistic? I suggest find some real head to copy with like what others are doing. Copying Ironman's head.
You can also find some head textures from games like Warcraft III. You can edit them and do some artistic transformations, etc

which one? the textures from warcraft? Im not sure but i think it is legal as long as it is yours. But if its not yours its illegal to sell it esp when they are not really selling it.

Taking pictures as guidance for making head textures is 100% legal.

Same goes for warcraft.

yes you can. that idea just came in to my mind just that moment when i posted. i was once making models for warcraft a few months ago and there are head textures in there files.

Maybe a bit late, but if you c/p you have to credit the original artist, but it's legal as long as you do it. If it was what you meant.
