Mud box: how to draw on a circle and get a flat?
how do you draw on a circle and get a flat?

I hear you're supposed to use mud box somehow

but I don't understand it D:
you can use nblx's tutorial. it pretty much covers everything

i'm guessing you mean sphere.. anyway, you can't just open up a sphere and draw on it on mudbox because the mapping won't come out good as a flat..
you need to download the tori model for Mudbox through the link RedPanda linked, and either draw directly on using the mudbox tools, which are kinda limited if you want to paint, or export a screenshot to photoshop through mudbox and work on one side via 2D, then reimport it via mudbox

when i use mudbox, it's mostly just to get the mapping done faster, after that i just work on the flat through photoshop, and use gimp to refine the mapping

or here's another tutorial to do this through photoshop, though i haven't tried this method

and i had seen one around for doing it through blender, but i'm sure some google'ing can help you find it

The past makes you wanna die out of regret, and future makes you depressed out of anxiety. So by elimination, the present is likely the happiest time.
With blender you can projection map a flat texture:

Flat image projected onto sphere

Output texture baked to cylinder projection

hmmm I tried to download the tori model

the .rar one

it says it won't open in any apps

also, I need to get flats from what Im doing
Maybe you need to extract the rar file first, you can do this using winrar, winzip, peazip, there are thousands of programs for it.

Yeah, man.

Tori model:
Download nblx's model.
Extract it using said 'unzipper' (7zip is the best imo + free: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) and place it in your Mudbox folder.
