Whenever i try to connect to a multiplayer server in 3.5 it just says not connected even when it says 'connected to (insert ip adress here)' in the corner.
Any solutions?

Try disabling your firewall, if it works after that, then your going to have to work something out.

If it still doesn't work, the only thing I can recommend would be a reinstall.

Disabling the firewall did not work, but i just installed 3.54 so how would that change it? i will try it anyway though.

Tried it, didn't work. is there something wrong with my router?
