I think you're missing the point.
When I practice Judo we started in a very specific posture. In aikido the same. Various forms of Kung Fu have their own starting positions. Boxing had a fairly standard starting stance.
Making a mod where tori and uke
start in these positions is extremely hard. They almost always (with a few exceptions) start with their arms out straight in in the Toribash "T" formation. Some people know how to use this to their advantage in clapping attacks and shoveling and I feel these are all valid game tactics, but by allowing new starting positions we would allow new tactics and strategies to emerge from mods.
We aren't saying that you can't get to any position in Toribash, but spending any of the first 50 ticks getting to that position puts you are a huge disadvantage and takes away from the experience.
