Yeah, it's fine, but there have been reported problems with netbooks about people not being able to run Toribash on them.

The Acer Aspire is pretty decent for hte price. It comes with proprietary software so you might not want that

Another alternative is the eeepc.
Nice but if you can id look for a refurbished laptop because my normal laptop could rape that and it cost me 150£ off ebay :L but its nice for a netbook i admit

Thanks, I just bought it.
I don't mind much about running toribash, I barely play it at all.
I'm hoping it's fast and runs gimp without problems.

To me this looks like a netbook.
The Atom core?
Tt might not be powerful enough to run toribash, as already said.
I got a T4300 dual core (2,2 GHz x 2)
and even on low options toribash uses about 85% of my core's computing potential...
Netbooks are not suited for gaming at all you know...
They don't even have a DVD drive cause they're too small!

Btw: just checked... it IS a netbook xD didn't click the link...

Now even notebooks (you know, the bigger laptops ) are not optimal for gaming.
Cause they get hot (because the cooling system is not good enough... You know... it gets hot, and the heat is being reflected by the surface your device stands on... Table and stuff) and that shortens your system's lifetime.

A chemical rule says:
Reactions take place at twice the speed, for every 10° the temperature increases...
Means for example:
Two elements react with each other. lets say it takes 5 minutes at 50 degrees untill the reaction is finished...
At 60 degrees it only takes 2,5 mins...
and at 70 degrees it only takes 1,25 mins.

So what this tells us, is that it's of vital importance that your CPU's temperature is as low as possible, since the lifetime decreases at the rate I just told you about. (40° and lower is best!)

Now when a friend of mine plays games on his regular PC his CPU heats up to ... lets say 50°.

When I play on my notebook:
65-75°

Means:
Notebooks aren't made for gaming! You can play, but you have to know it's not really good for you machine!
(Yeah of course you can get cooling pads and whatnot. STILL they ain't made for gaming)

Lets sum up:
PCs have a more effective cooling system - good for gaming.
Notebook - wouldn't be my first choice
Netbook - FORGET IT or play Minesweeper xD

Worth the money? - YES
Not exactly what you should look for though...

My advice would be to save some money (600-700 USD) and get a reasonable gaming machine... So you can play some newer games (2009/10) at lets say medium settings.

PS: If this post helped, then +rep me :P
Took me like 20 mins+

EDIT:
I didn't just write down all that shit for nothing did I?... -.-

EPIC Flame particle texturing SHOP
kinda inactive though
It's ok, I got a cooling pad/fan that I used for my old laptop, so no problem.

I have this, but the bigger/better version, running 4gig RAM, same size HDD, but a better CPU, the aspire series are extremely good for most situations.
its not mean to play games. Its meant to do basic stuff like searching the web. (hence the name "netbook")
Don't expect it to be quick at doing much... not even GIMP. You'll probably find it rather slow.
