How to increase battery timing of laptop computer
The tip is ment for those who have laptops use in different networks like sales people have to visit customer and give presentation and other allied things, and they may need to work from home, in order to maximize the battery usage , a user can create hardware profile for different scenarios, like if a sales person is out for presentation , he do not need modem , lan or may be a printing , so create a profile like Field Visit Profile , with the specific hardware which is not going to be used while out of the office, disable them in hardware profile, it will save battery power consumption.

Now question is how to make different hardware profile and select them as the laptop starts.

How to Set Up Hardware Profiles for Laptop Computers
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to complete this procedure. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.

To set up hardware profiles:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
2. On the Hardware tab, click Hardware Profiles.
3. Type a name for the new hardware profile, and then click OK.
4. Click the new profile, click Properties, select the This is a portable computer check box, and then select the best description for the profile (the docking state for the profile).
5. Click Always include this profile when Windows starts.

when you have more than one profile , when system boots, it will let you choose the profile that you want to work with.

So, make different profiles for different scenarios and get some juice out of your battery.

Thanks.

* Do an undervolting on your CPU.
* Lower the screen brightness. The screen wastes more energy than any other component.

You can right click the battery in the right of your taskbar and put the battery to power saver. Which in all does what Sudo had said.

Orly? I bet no-one ever thought of THAT!
But seriusly, that doesn't save energy and is only usable when you have a power source nearby, which you always don't.

Nope.... It does about brightness and CPU frequency, but not about CPU voltages! A specific undervolting can only be done manually.
