the higher your rank goes,you can use more powerful weapons and frames.
What does my Weapon/Warframe Level mean?
this is the level of each warframe and each weapon,whenever you
get a new one they are level 1.

as you clear missions,you gather mods.
Mods are extra stats to add to your warframe/weapon,like extra damage,
elemental damage,speed,defence etc
How likely is one to get one of those key thingies?
very likely,if you do defense,survival and interception missions

But what does leveling up my weapons/warframes mean? Do I get something for that?

you maximize your stats by leveling,think of each warframe
as a different character,as you level them, they get better stats.
Now by adding mods you can increase certain stats that you think
will go well with your playstyle.
example
you start at level 1 with 100 health/shield
in level 30 its 1000 health/shield
you add a health/shield mod,it goes to 2500
health/shield respectively
You can fuse mods to make a mod even stronger,so the health/shield
mod will now increase your health/shield to 3000
damaged mods have less stats than the normal ones.
