hey I've been playing this I ran down the hill of the firelink shrine and went in the catacombs to see what it's like and now I'm scared to go in there.
Also I rolled off the bridge like 3 times when fighting the Tauros Demon.
Also using the Uchigatana two handed, kinda sucks not blocking that well but I just play more dodgy/offensively.

Listen to elitist snake, he knows just about everything in this game, and if you do not play the game like he do, you shouldn't play the game at all.

I can't parry if I'm using two hands with it
also I got enough strength to use it with one hand so I do that and parry shit with my fist now
I still suck at it though

Well I just started playing this game, and after many hours just to get it to run (not a very well made port...), it seems pretty good.

I think people overstated how challenging the game is. So far it has been quite forgiving and consistent. Yeah you lose souls when you die, but then you just go pick them back up... Just don't do something silly like dying in a boss fight. Most basic mobs so far die if you just parry riposte, all the bosses so far I just have to dodge and hit them till they die.

I just got out of the asylum now I'm in a graveyard. It's pretty easy but then you go down some stairs and there's some kind of ranged attack that kills me 2 hits. It's really dark and hard to figure out what's going on. But at least I get lots of souls killing the skeletons on the way there.

Dude, the asylum is nothing :o You'll experience what Dark Souls truly is when you fight Ornstein and Smough or Knight Artorias and Kalameet if you have the expansion.

You're not meant to go to the graveyard, follow the path on the other wall side.
When facing the bonfire with the cheesy guy sitting on the right, the path is on the left.

Well I cleared the catacombs and half the giant graveyard, but I found another path that lead to some dragons so I killed them. Then I killed some ice golems and then saw a big hydra thing and I ran past it and found a ladder then there was a big wolf so I killed that too. Then I went back past the hydra and found a tower and there was a guy so I killed him, then there was a big dog on a wall so I killed that too, then there was a dragon but I couldn't kill that. Then I killed some birds on a roof and rung a bell then killed an onion knight and then I killed a lot of other stuff. After that I couldn't really figure out where I was supposed to go, but eventually I found a friggin huge rat so I killed it, but that zone was a dead end so I left and found this place with lots of bugs then I went down a tree and found another hydra (how many of these things are there?!) and there was another dragon but it seemed chill so I left it.

At some point I went to this big sunken city and everyone was already dead but I killed them again for good measure, then there was a red guy so I killed him and got a key which opened a door which let all the water out, then I went down to the ocean floor and killed everyone there and there was a big blob thing and I killed that and some little knight guys who died easy. And then I was back at the little blue dragon place which was convenient.

I killed a lot more stuff too, but that's the main part.

Now I'm back at the giant graveyard but I still can't get past the glowing yellow mist. This game's really complex like that you have to run around to each of the frontiers to find which one you can get to next.
Like, I cleared the first graveyard easy and the catacombs but then there was the mist so I went back and then there was the sunken city but the ghosts can't be hurt so I ran a different way. Then after I found the huge rat a frog spat on me and suddenly I can kill ghosts. I think to get past the yellow mist in the giant graveyard I need to get something else to spit on me.

You sure do a lot of killing in this game. I'm level 50 something now, and I'm using a dragon greatsword. I found a magic but I tried to use it but it does nothing, magic is hard.

Well, seems like you know how to play
Head down to where that giant rat was, it's not a dead end. You have to kill the gaping dragon down there, then head to blight town and ring the second bell. Then you can head to Anor Londo, where you can get something which will get you past the yellow mist.
