Sort of.

So I have to save it as a PNG file.

Also, go to edit at the top of the page (In GIMP) and go down to selection editor.

Figure out how to use it yourself.

That's what selection editor does.

Then you put the background behind it while it is selected.
But you only use the selection editor when the background is one colour.
Bored of this....
