Well, he started Generation X 1 year after the Sex Pistols and 2 years after The Ramones. So I assume he wasnt that late.

However, my favorite of the Original artists is Steve Ignorant from Crass. The best Anarcho band ever :P. Very influential.

Citizen Fish, theyre decent, only heard 1 or 2 songs by them, nothing special to me.

The only pop punk i listen to is sometimes a few rancid song and the desendants, although they "invented" pop punk, it was quite good, unlike now.
