well no, its not a drawing. Its made from real data. Every pixel represents roughly 2 square km. The colors represent height on land and depth at sea. There are 256 colors on this image (cyan - dark grey). Each color occupies roughly the same area of the image.
The data was downloaded from NOAA site. Google ETOPO NOAA. The resolution of data is 1 minute (as in there are 360x180 degrees in Earth lat-lon cartographic projection and each degree has 60 minutes).
