I got some good and negative feedback, well if i make trial I know for a fact I can do it. However I need to win the popularity contest of making it to trial first.

I dunno about that. I would say reputation more than popularity makes a bit of a difference, but its two sides of the same coin. I could just cite extreme imaginary examples but you can't deny that reputation does influence your decisions.
