*Is surprised this hasn't been closed*
Anyways, I own both.
Here's my opinion in sections:
Internet Play:
Xbox you have to pay for internet, but has better service in general.
PS3 has free internet.
Hackers are few on both, thanks to the efforts of both companies (they're still there but not rampant.)
IMO - PS3 wins. Free internets ++. I don't want to pay extra on top of my already high internet bill.
Graphics:
Xbox has had some truly impressive graphics in games (good example: Mass Effect 2 on an old, non-flatscreen tv
)
PS3 has also had some graphically impressive games (Final Fantasy XIII excelled in this and little else.)
IMO: Both are equal. Seems to depend on the effort put in by the game designers. Also i'm not getting down into hardware details.
Online Purchase of Games:
Xbox has Live Arcade, offering a large selection of commercial games and also some indies. You pay in Microsoft Points (in my country $1 = 50 microsoft points).
PS3 has the PSN Store, which runs off your PSN wallet which consists of your own country's currency. It has a large amount of commercial games available for download and also has a selection of indie games, as well as offering you the opportunity to pay for and download classic PS1 games.
IMO: PS3 wins again. Easier to make sense of the currency used. Other areas are about even.
Fanboys:
Xbox fanboys are rampant. They'll show up at any discussion about anything PS3 related (especially threads such as this one) and boast about how Xbox "are moar bettererz"
PS3 fanboys tend to turn up when an Xbox fanboy hates on the PS3, so they in turn troll them. Also appear to show up to troll Xbox360 praise threads.
IMO: Fanboys gtfo teh internetz. Also gtfo my irl.
Call of Duty:
Xbox: "OMG COD BLACK OPS IS TEH BEST GAME EVAR!"
PS3: "OMFG COD BLACK OPS IS TEH BEST SHIT EVAR GUIZ!"
IMO: Content > Hype. Black ops is 90% recycled and sold on hype. Fanboys piss me off. In comparison for the game itself, in my experience Black Ops multiplayer is generally better on Xbox360.
Unique Games:
Xbox: Halo series, Gears of War 2 and 3, Fable series
PS3: Infamous series, Killzone series, Resistance series
IMO: I personally hate "unique games" - those only available to certain consoles. This essentially forces you to purchase the opposing console should you want to play a game unique to it - a tactic similar to what the Pokémon series does with all the different versions (they all have pokémon not available in each of the other games, forcing you to buy them all to complete the challenge of "becoming a pokémon master"). HOWEVER, I have seen that efforts have been taken to bring Xbox360-unique games over to the PS3 (such as Mass Effect 2 if you ignore the pc release, and Dead Rising 2) so I cannot personally decide which console wins this one.
Appearance:
Xbox: Has a nice, sleek, streamlined and stylised design (I have a slim fyi)
PS3: Looks somewhat like a rectangle with a rounded top. (Also a slim)
IMO: I like the outward appearance of the Xbox360 (slim) better.
Lights of DEATH:
Xbox (slim) is still doomed, only now with a Red Dot of Death (or Red Eye).
Read this article and the comments.
PS3 has the yellow light of death, which as far as I know is "not
quite as inevitable" as the Xbox red lights of DOOOOOM.

IMO: Both are more or less inevitable, but can also be fixed with a little bit of work. No opinion.
Sales:
Now this section is particularly interesting.
Xbox has been overtaken by the PS3 on sales - barely, by $500,000
However this could all change with the release of a new "killer game" or "killer hardware".
Of course, the Nintendo Wii is far above both in sales.

IMO: Hopefully this can shut some fanboys up.
To conclude: Both have their pros and cons. Which is "better" remains the opinion of the owners.
(Unless someone wants to write up a full hardware review of both to see which is more powerful)
