Yes it is similar but mumble offers a better user interface, and is more convenient for group calls on the go since you only need a server up to chat instead of starting a call in Skype. Also offline or online people have to accept or decline the call in Skype

That idea sounds pretty nice. I might try it out sometime to see if I like the programm. Other monks could do the same and we could vote on this decision.
