If you think about it it makes sense that people who view people who have connections to people in power would have greater respect to the person or persons in questions. Its a psychology thing trust me. at least I think it is. .-.

No, you're right, it's true.
Depending on who you associate yourself with, you will have a certain status as viewed by others.
If you associate yourself with high-status individuals, you share in that, and vice versa.

The thing here is, we don't seek to form an alliance with anyone for the sake of possibly having a higher status.
If we're going to form an alliance with someone, it's because we like them, nothing else.
