01[00:03] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> One of those who implies how the shamans of old gained power
01[00:03] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> At least one of their ways
01[00:04] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And it sheds some light on the morality of the tribe
01[00:04] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Long ago in a village by the river
01[00:04] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Deep in the Amazon Rainforest
01[00:04] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Lived a man simply named Tha Shaman
01[00:05] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> As implied by his name, he was his villages shaman
01[00:05] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And healed the sick, kept spirits of the forest away, and threatened or killed other tribes who would threaten his
01[00:05] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> But within his own village lived a monster
01[00:05] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> named The Violent
01[00:06] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> A cannibal who would lure children to him and kill them
01[00:06] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> When the evening came and the insects of the jungle sang
[00:06] <BlueEvil> sup haaaxxyyyy you gotta listen to that awesome story
01[00:06] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> He would wistle a low sound that the children would investigate
01[00:06] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Then he would sneak up from behind and stab his bamboo dagger down the childrens neck into their heart
01[00:07] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Then he would eat them
01[00:07] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> All the villagers feared The Violent
01[00:07] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And none deared stand against him, for he was taller than most, and was a great warrior
01[00:07] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> But the Shaman had powers no other knew and have never feared him
01[00:08] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Yet though it might be hard for westerners to understand, it was not the responsibility of The Shaman to kill another member of his own tribe, so he had never done anything
01[00:08] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> But one day he had drunked the sacred tea of the people
01[00:08] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And its visions had shown him that unless he dealt with The Violent
01[00:08] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> His people would all die
01[00:09] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Shaman then resolutely began to meditate on his knowledge
01[00:09] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And decided to use the chilli plant to kill Violent
01[00:09] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> For the power of the chilli is wilder than that of any human
01[00:10] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> quick note: The Shamans name in Hãtxa Ku~i is Yutxiã, meaning Dominator/Controller of Chilli
01[00:11] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Shaman began to collect the small red chillis of he had planted
01[00:11] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> and hid them with the macaxeira (a type of potato) of The Violent's wives
01[00:12] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> For The Violent had three wives, and after he had eaten the flesh of man, he would hunt a beast and have them prepare it for themselves and him for late night food
01[00:13] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Shaman's chilli was well hidden, and when they made the Mab~esh (a type of porrige), meat with macaxeira (type of potato), macaxeira with leaves, and grilled macaxeira
01[00:13] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The chilli the shaman was left was all there
01[00:13] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Then that same night, when the village gathered in the Shubuã (main house where the village gathers and eats together)
01[00:14] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Shaman sat still, without eating, and watched The Violent eat all the food that he had poisoned with chilli
01[00:15] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> In his way of eating, combined with the warriors power that The Violent had
01[00:15] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> He did not taste the hot taste of the chilli
01[00:15] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And did not notice The Shaman watching him silently from afar
01[00:16] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> But as the meal was about to end, The Violent looked up and saw The Shaman looking with blodshot eyes
01[00:16] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> and in that moment The Shaman with all his might activated the powers of the chilli
01[00:16] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> to curse the body and mind of The Violent
01[00:17] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Violent himself, not having knowledge of the ways of the shaman, knew something was done, but did not no what
01[00:17] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> So he ran from the Shubuã (main house)
01[00:17] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Brought his wives and escaped into the dark jungle
01[00:18] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> After walking for two days and two nights, they reached the neighbooring village
01[00:18] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And on the way there The Violent had hunted a deer that he told his three wives to prepare for him
01[00:19] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The wives skinned, gut and chopped up the deer
01[00:19] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> But as they returned
01[00:19] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Violent was no longer the man he once was
01[00:19] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The light was gone from his eyes and they would not focus
01[00:19] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The energy gone from his body and he would not walk
01[00:20] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> His mind gone, and tounge silent
01[00:20] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The same night, The Violent fell over, dead in the Shubuã (gathering house) of the neighboor village
01[00:20] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> this same night
01[00:21] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> The Shaman was once again drinking the sacred tea of the people, and again the visions came to him
01[00:21] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> He saw the death of The Violent
01[00:21] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And heard a voice from a spirit of the forest
01[00:21] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> It told him that he would soon die
01[00:22] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> For he was not of the evil sort like Violent, and the sins of killing one of your same people would not escape him
01[00:22] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Thus resolutely, The Shaman decided to build a new Shubuã (gathering house) for his village
01[00:23] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> For the powers he had used to curse The Violent would linger in the Shubuã he had first cast them, and he did not want anyone else to be hurt
01[00:23] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> He went found the strong trees of the jungle
01[00:23] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> and began to build a new Shubuã
01[00:24] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> As he bound the last palm leaf
01[00:24] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> A part of the roof fell loosened
01[00:24] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And fell upon him and broke his neck
01[00:25] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> Thus died The Shaman of the village
01[00:25] <@liaxoSporadicallyAFK> And so ends the story of Pubẽ and Yutxiã
- The Violent was afraid of The Shaman before this stoy takes place, even though The Shaman was a humble and silent man
- The Violent would only kill and eat people when he knew The Shaman was far away
- The Shaman poisoned the food of The Violent after it was placed in the gathering house by his three wives, but before The Violent himself arrived
- The story describs in detail what types of food it was, but they are a dozen, and I don't know how do describe them well or what all of the ingredients are named in English
- No spirits talked to The Shaman, all his revelations came from within
- I catered the story a bit towards the audience, as the cause of why things happen is not described in the original story. It does not describe why The Shaman decided to kill The Violent (though one can assume it was because he was killing and eating children), and it does not describe why The Shaman will die himself afterwards (only that he knows that he will), which makes the paradox of the story:
He knows he will die -> therefore he wants to build a house before the end -> because he builds the house he, dies (a part of the house loosens and kills him).
Would he have died if he didn't build the house?
