What do serial numbers do?

They activate the product, a.k.a when you buy photoshop it comes in a box, on the back of the manual or on a white piece of paper taped in the box(not sure which on it is) comes a string of numbers and letters. This is the validation code of purchase. Commonly known as a Serial Number. You get it in all your pc games too.

I didn't know what they were, I had a pretty good idea.

You need to download photoshop cs4 and enter anyone of them when they ask you about it in the installation.
