Dont know who rexton is. So i wouldnt class him as an elite artist.
Joon was never active enough to get anything really going.
The texture scene at the moment is a mess. with all the elite artists being lazy and just not doing anything.
alpha cant finish anything he starts
havent seen anything new from ferrock
doxxy and lwafflez stuff is good, but recently havent come out with anything amazing
fate is inactive
and Barreta, no.
the texture scene that youre remembering is nothing like it is now. there are no top notch artists who are leagues above the rest. well, atleast not active or productive.

take into account that mantrain only worked in 128x128
his rep.
and the level of textures around at the time.
atm last duck cant compete with ferrock, who also works similarly.
if he ups the quality and detail of his work and markets himself, then sure, he can become well known np.

his leaf armour set is still one of the ebst sets around.
his problem was workign to clients. doesnt know how to make things that work for requests...
