I think you can now in 1.4, since you can edit the world when you start it. Good luck! Oh and we started a new world on my server, I've got the other world file on my desktop.

There are programs that allow one to create a map (albeit, without buldings, just natural landscape). Perhaps someone could create a survival map while we wait for fanty to finish his?
