That's because webcams suck and if there's a light in the background but not the foreground it will make the foreground extremely dark in comparison to what it actually is.
In other words, cameras fuck up if lighting isn't right.

Edit: Also i could've edited the lighting in gimp, but i'm way to lazy to do that, also it would have ruined the pics x)
