I just want to point out that in reality throwing swords is, unless they block it with a sword/armor, very effective if you strike with the tip of the blade... Impaling kills.

In the first one, I blind him with my shield, then I cut his arm off.

It's also very hard since swords in reality aren't weighted for throwing, it'd more than likely just bounce off doing minimal damage and frankly, quite stupid, Since you now don't have a weapon, well, you can use a shield as a basic weapon but still, if you threw your sword, you would lose the fight.
