The fact that there are more new people than "pros" is a sign that the game isn't yet declining to the point where the community stagnates and it's outdated to the point of not captivating younger people to play it.
Even all the popular major games have tons of more "new guys" than "pros" so I really don't see why that would make the game "quite lame".
