ALMOST none of these heads look like emos and are even worth 800 tc's

actually thats the best way to place hair at that globular tori head.
Long straight down going hair fits the best
and cuz everybody who wants hair, wants it wild and crazy, that emo style is just one of the best solutions^^
besides with that one eye covered by hair the head is not symmetrically and that makes it look more interesting ;P
