it was supposed to be more of a sentiment thing because when my mom was 18 my grandma bought her bowls as a gesture of "you're an adult now you can have your own things" its like a weird tradition all the women in my family have been doing with their daughters idk i guess its a cool lesson to learn but also gee thanks for the bowl mom i can now eat soup slightly more often if i really wanted to
