For me the best weapon of choice is either Black Knight Sword (+5 = 330dmg, pretty fast, time it right and it's fucking good, and extra damage against demons) or Silver Knight Str. Sword (+5 = 262dmg, which is pretty damn good considering the fast speed).
I killed Kalameet using the Silver knight sword, he's a fucking beast.
Use of rings: Havel's Ring, and Ring of Steel Protection
Armor & Shield: Set of Artorias and Greatshield of Artorias, I actually used the shield against himself and it's the best shield in-game (imo), and the set is good considering the quite low weight, with the ring of Havel, it's close to wearing nothing.

I bought and played dark souls on PC before. Recently, I installed it again but the game has some issues. It doesn't save, even though I made an offline account in GFWL. I am on windows 8. (8.1, to be specific) and I heard this game doesn't go along well with win8. Anybody got any ideas?

Installing Dark Souls on Windows 8.1
Install GFWL in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and as administrator.
Install Sign-In Assistant in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and as administrator.
You should now be able to launch the game.
It may also be useful to install some additional fixes.
Install the graphics fix by downloading DSfix and unzipping it to your game directory.
The mouse fix can be downloaded here and just needs to be put in to the game directory too.

I had the same problem and I just uninstalled dark souls and gfwl and then reinstalled darksouls then gfwl.
