We're in the same boat here.

Like the game just because it can be fun and it's something to do every now and then.

But I definitely don't like games where if your team isn't very good, you're doomed to have a bad match.

When I play games, I play the Souls series, strategy and fighting games. Tekken series, Supreme Commander ect.

starcraft comes to my mind
also street fighter 4 (5 sucks)
these games are based on pure skill, randomness isn't involved 99% of the time. strongly focused on gameplay and balance
