If it had co-op, it would be amazingly awesome beyond belief. The campaign is awesome as it is, but if you could play it together with someone... :0

Also, Claymore Heavy Shotgun is way cool. Just get up close and KABOOM. Takes down an armored krogan in two shots, maybe even a single shot if you're at point blank range. Don't know for sure about that, though. Low rate of fire, but very high damage if all shots connect. Delicious. :U

You run up to him. Or use Charge, if you're a Vanguard. Krogans usually have shotguns, so getting up close isn't a problem. Staying there, however, is. :U

Or just use your own shotgun, that's what I do, or send Grunt/Garrus after them

I almost always get myself killed when I try to get close to a Krogan.

On Insanity that is, haven't tried on other difficulties.
I like sending Grunt after them though :P

Oh yeah, on Insanity. But don't you like die from one assault rifle bullet on Insanity? =P
I guess a more effective tactic with shotguns would be to wait around a corner, and once the enemy in question gets close enough, pop out and blast his/her/its face off.
Speaking of faceblasting, am i the only one who thoroughly enjoys killing an YMIR Mech with a headshot? :U
