well, is not something urgent cause it is not f*cked up, its just in need of a format, i dont format it for about 2 years or something xD!
but to give you guys an example to burn a dvd i take about 40 mins, and that isnt normal, it should take about 12 min or so...

Have you tried using a booster program(i.e EBoostr)?

well, the thing is, my computer is pretty good and new.

processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 GHz
Ram: 3 Gb
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3850 x2 @ 1024 MB (its only one card)

so, the problem is not the fact that it is old.
its probably incompatibility with old programs and stuff that is making it slow, and also the fact that it isnt formated since 2007 or so. xD
