Survival island more than a thousand blocks away from my home. Notice the hole on the right, that was all a big hole on most of the island, I just closed it and put a small staircase.

You bet.

But guess what, I made a portal to the nether, and that portal brought me somewhere close to the original portal that leads to my home :3

Now I can go to the island on back home whenever I want without having to wait for around 7 minutes.

you always spawn on a block and if you mean it depends what blocks are around you then thats the same for normal minecraft as well.

Seems kinda interesting, but it would only be hard in the beginning.

Once you have enough blocks to build your way anywhere, it's not that big of a challenge.
