What do you think about Cloud Atlas?
Since the movie seems to polarize quite a bit, I was wondering what you guys think about it.
I personally went into the movie theater with high expectations due to trailer and cast, but left disappointed.
Basically, the film consists of six different movies from different genres, which are hectically mixed together. Very confusing. It is full of cliches (the sci-fi part in particular) and somewhat cheap wisdoms. I was hoping until the end that there would come a solution which combined the pieces to a whole, connected the story inteligently. But all I saw were different people (with similar faces) in different ages failing to change the world into a better place. The movie would probably make a lot more sense if I watched it again specifically looking for connections between the stories. But due to the ridiculous length and because of way too many boring scenes, I honestly don't want to.
Especially the comedy scenes in the middle of the movie aretotally out of place and make it hard to take the movie seriously. Also, the language the people speak in the future sounds (at least in the German version) totally retareded to me
The acting was ok I guess, although I've seen way better (of Tom Hanks in particular).
Conclusion: The movie wasn't that bad, but I really expected more. Wouldn't recommend to watch it in cinema, but it's fine for a film evening at home. 6/10
I'm eager to hear your opinion on it.
PS: I hope my English was somehow comprehensible, I'm not used to write such long texts.
