Christ, stop letting other people tell you what to do. If you like listening to blues, by all means, listen to blues.
And besides, it's not like metal is any less musical than any other genre. I can totally go from debussy or beethoven to amenra and unexpect.
Genres arent things you "are" in, it's just a way to keep track of what's what.
I used to love hip hop, but i'm not as much into it nowadays. I still come back every now and then to wu tang and whatnot.

I totally agree. I never cared for lyrics in the first place.
