You can add people to your contacts, but there is no real point other than quickly accessing there profile.

There is actually a friends list, but I don't believe it's quite useful. For the command, type /help and search for one related to friends list. Secondly, If you want to have a list to show which of your friends are online and which arne't, BigBro could be a good program for you. http://forum.toribash.com/showthread.php?t=172437
