The BFG 10K or simply the BFG: is a firearm that can be accessed by pressing "9" on the NumPad or scrolling manually. It is essentially an upgraded version of the Plasma Gun. It hurls giant slugs of Plasma at enemies, usually killing in one shot. Despite this, it isn't automatic and takes half a second to recharge. It isn't as flexible as the Plasma Gun, but a lot more deadly. This is one of the rarer weapons, and usually isn't found at startup.
Statistics:
-Rarely found/used.
The Chaingun: is a weapon that can be accessed by picking up a chaingun spawn and/or switching your weapons manually with the mouse. The Chaingun fires through flesh and armour with immense ease but burns up ammo at a rapid rate so you have to keep an eye out for ammo boxes when using this weapon.
Statistics:
-The Chaingun has hitscan properties, which means that it will instantly hit as soon as the server registers your fire input. The other weapons to carry hitscan properties are the Shotgun, Machinegun and Railgun.
-After spin-up, the weapon's DPS is comparable to that of the plasma gun, albeit with severely reduced accuracy.
-It does not share the same ammunition as the Machinegun.
The Gauntlet: is a close-combat weapon that can by default be accessed by either pressing "1" on the NumPad, or running out of ammo on every other weapon. It combines a saw blade and an electrical charge that can usually kill opponents in less than 2 strikes. Because the Gauntlet is not very effective as a weapon, it is often used as a method of humilating your opponent; when someone is fragged with the Gauntlet (and only the Gauntlet), the player who fragged them receives an award, "Humiliation".
Statistics:
-The Gauntlet deals 50 damage per hit.
-The Gauntlet hits every 0.4 seconds (maximum).
-The Gauntlet does not use any sort of ammo.
-There is a slight knockback upon hitting an opponent with the Gauntlet.
The Grenade Launcher: is an explosive weapon that can be accessed by either pressing "4" on the NumPad, or switching weapons manually. The weapon is not popular in normal combat, but is great for killing idling enemies. When thrown, it bounces along the ground and explodes in under 3 seconds. It takes around 2 separate grenades to frag an enemy, but is lethal if in a closed-combat situation. It can be used to preform grenade jumps. Although it launches you less farther then a rocket jump would, it deals less self-damage to you.
Statistics:
-The Grenade Launcher is one of the less popular weapons because many players can easily dodge the grenades before they are given a chance to explode. However, it's deadly to use if a skilled player can set traps for groups of distracted enemies in enclosed areas.
-A common strategy in Clan Arena is to block off corridors or cover your retreat around corners using the grenade launcher. If the enemy pursuits, the grenades will likely heavily damage or kill your assailants.
It can be put to very effective use in CTF or Team Deathmatch, as a defensive weapon to cover teammates or the flag, or as an offensive weapon to spam around corners and deal indirect damage.
-While not recommended for use in close combat, a well placed direct grenade or two will heavily damage or frag your opponent.
The Heavy Machine Gun: is all range weapon that can be accessed by setted by the player hotkey or by switching weapons manually. Its similar to the Machine Gun,but with more damage, more speed and less accuracy.Effective on mid-range and moving targets because of its hitscan properties.
Statistics:
-Deals 8 damage per shot.
-The Heavy Machine Gun has hitscan properties, which means that it will instantly hit as soon as the server registers your fire input. The other weapons to carry hitscan properties are the Shotgun, the Railgun, the Machine -Gun and the Chaingun.
-A player can carry a maximum of 150 ammo.
-Ammo boxes will also refill all weapons ammo.
-Picking up the weapon or the Ammo box refills you 50 ammo.
The Lightning Gun: is a firearm weapon that can by default be accessed by pressing "6" or "E" on the keyboard, or by switching weapons manually.
It is a popular weapon due to it having an attack rate that can quickly deplete an enemy's health and is very accurate. However, even a full ammunition supply will deplete swiftly and it cannot harm targets if they are too far away.
Tactically, it can be used to frag stronger opponents, or opponents with full health in a matter of seconds.
Statistics:
-The Lightning Gun is a beam weapon, works like a hitscan weapon but not really in the same family; each Lightning Bolt is fired and hits at the same moment (disregarding high latency). Beam weapons don't use little projectiles such as bullets, pellets or uranium slugs, also it has a very limited range compared to her hitscan sisters.
-Each Lightning Gun Cell will deal 6 damage if it hits. Before the pre-steam update it did 7 damage.
-The Lightning Gun fires 20 cells per second.
-A player can carry a maximum of 200 Lightning Cells in Clan Arena and 150 in other game modes.
The Machinegun or Machine Gun: is a firearm that can be accessed by either pressing "2" on the NumPad, or by switching weapons manually. It is the first weapon that appears when spawned. It is one of the less powerful weapons in the game, nevertheless it can be used to easily kill someone if used skillfully. It's long-range can be used for normal combat, but is usually used to preserve the ammo of the other weapons so that you can kill a weaker enemy without wasting valuable ammo.
Statistics:
-The Machinegun has hitscan properties, which means that it will instantly hit as soon as the server registers your fire input. The other weapons to carry hitscan properties are the Shotgun and the Chaingun.
-The Machinegun deals 5 damage per bullet.
-A player can carry a maximum of 150 bullets at a time.
The Nailgun: is a firearm weapon that can only be accessed manually. Despite having poor accuracy, it can hurl numbers of deadly spikes at rapid speeds. It is a rare weapon and only appears in some CTF levels.
Statistics:
-This Weapon acts like a shotgun but with longer range so use it at any distance.
-If all nails hit it can kill someone in one shot.
-When using this weapon try to predict where the enemy will go.
-Abuse its ricochet properties by bouncing it off walls around corridors. Any enemy who lies in wait will get a nasty surprise.
The Plasma Gun: is a firearm weapon that can by default be used by pressing 8 or F on the keyboard or accessed manually by scrolling with your mouse. It releases a stream of plasma pulses and despite being difficult to handle, it can become a very effective weapon. It has some small amount of splash damage, which is used in a technique known as "Plasma Climbing", where a player jumps at a wall while firing the Plasma Gun at a certain angle; the Plasma's splash damage then accelerates the player up the wall.
Statistics:
-The Plasma Gun fires 10 Plasma Cells per second.
-Each Plasma Cell can deal up to 20 damage.
-Splash damage of each Plasma Cell deals approximately 7 damage.
-A player can carry 150 Plasma Cells at most.
-Plasma cells prestep at the first 20 feet then go slower; because of that, Plasma Gun pretty much works like a hitscan weapon (MG, SG, RG) at close quarters and a missile weapon (RL, GL, BFG) at long range targets.
The Proxy Launcher: is an explosive weapon which releases Proximity Mines. Its ammo is 5. Once one is launched, its gravity anchor causes the mine to cling on to the place where the weapon was aimed. Unlike a Grenade Launcher, a mine will not explode until an enemy steps on it. The mine will make a beeping noise until it explodes. In certain game modes, the mine will glow Red or Blue based on the team you are on. It is not ideal for close-comat but is useful for booby-trapping an arena. It can be destroyed with a Rocket Launcher, Grenade Launcher and Plasma Gun. It is a rare weapon which is only found in CTF. Also the mines explodes after a while so don't use them for long battles
Statistics:
-Rarely used/Found
The Railgun: is a firearm weapon that can be accessed by pressing 7 or R on the keyboard or by switching weapons manually, (scrolling). The Railgun is a popular weapons, and function sort of like a sniper rifle for Quake Live. It takes over 3 seconds to recharge after being fired, delaying your next shot, however being such a strong weapon, it can be used in combination with the lightning gun as a 'finisher' when the opponent is close to dying. This prevents any escape as it hits hard and fast. It's highly accurate and fires a depleted uraniam slug in a straight line. Each slug does 80 damage to the opponent regardless of where it hits. Being a hitscan weapon, there is no splash damage.
Statistics:
-This is the only weapon you will start with in an 'Insta' game.
-The Railgun is perhaps Quake Live's most effective harassment weapon. If you have low HP and armor, try to predict where your opponent(s) are likely to appear and position yourself so as to snipe at them with the Railgun. After scoring a hit, run away and repeat. 2-3 hits will even out the playing field no matter how large of a stack advantage your opponent has. The rocket launcher can perform in this role as well, but unlike the Railgun, it restricts your ability to quickly escape (due to its shorter effective range).
The Rocket Launcher: is an explosive weapon that can be accessed by pressing "5" or "Q" on the keyboard, or by switching weapons manually. It is one of the more popular weapons because the blast radius can affect multiple enemies. Along with this, it can kill enemies in less than 2 shots and can be used in any type of situation. It is favoured by all types of players, and is usually the most often used weapon. Despite its power and effectiveness, its ammo is limited and the rocket can harm the player who fired it as well.
Statistics:
-The Rocket Launcher has splash damage properties, which means that the projectiles will cause splash damage, damaging anyone caught within the blast radius. Other weapons that carry this effect is the Grenade Launcher, the Proxy Launcher, and to a lesser extent the Plasma Gun.
-Rockets do a maximum of 100 damage (direct hits) and a minimum of 1 damage.
-A player can carry a maximum of 25 rockets at a time.
-Rocket ammo boxes give 5 rockets while Rocket Launcher spawns give 10 rockets.
-This weapon can be used to 'rocket jump', which is essentially pointing at the ground and firing while jumping at the same time to reach high places.
The Shotgun: is a firearm that can be accessed by either pressing "3" on the NumPad, or switching weapons manually. It is essentially a close-combat weapon, that is extremely weak at anything above mid-range, but at point blank can frag an enemy in one go. The Shotgun takes a second to reload, so it isn't preferred in normal combat, but like the Gauntlet is good for surprising enemies. The Shotgun is often compared to the Plasma Gun in combat.
Statistics:
-The Shotgun has hitscan properties, which means that it will instantly hit as soon as the server registers your fire input. -The other weapons to carry hitscan properties are the Machinegun and the Chaingun.
-The Shotgun fires 20 pellets in two rings (10 in each). The inner ring deals 7 damage per pellet while the outer deals 4 damage per pellet, for a max of 110 damage, which is essentially point-blank range.
-A player can carry a maximum of 25 shells at a time.
-Shotgun ammo boxes give 5 shells while shotgun spawns give 10 shells.
-There is a small delay between each shell fired, as the shotgun is pump-action and must be reloaded after each shot.
