So true. AMD is unbeatable when it comes to price vs performance ratio.

You can build a wonderful AMD-based computer up to today's standards with a relatively small budget. Getting an equivalent such as the Intel i5 or even i7 will cost you anything like twice as much... i5 and i7 boards are way too expensive to start with.. then the CPUs themselves are far from cheap...

Something like this is a wonderful rig:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 AM3 Black Edition Rev.2 - 276€
Motherboard: Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 - 110€
RAM: GSKILL PC3-12800 4GB ECO CL7 (2x2GB) DDR3 - 120€
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD5850 OC 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E - 265€
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3.5 - 50€
DVD drive: Samsung DVD-RW SH-S223C SATA Black Bulk - 18€
Case: Thermaltake Element T - 65€
PSU: Corsair HX-650 650W (7 year warranty, 85% efficiency) - 120€

All for: 1024€
